A Day in the Life of the Financial Analyst I
In this role, you’ll support financial management operations by analyzing budgets, tracking costs, and assisting with financial reporting across multiple programs. Your work will contribute to informed decision‑making by evaluating financial data, identifying trends, and ensuring resources are allocated effectively in alignment with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
Provide financial management support to programs, departments, or organizational units
Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets
Review budget estimates for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations
Track budgets, costs, and variances across multiple funding sources
Conduct cost‑benefit analyses and evaluate financial trade‑offs
Research economic and financial trends impacting organizational spending
Develop and maintain budget policies, procedures, and guidelines
Prepare executive summaries and detailed financial reports
Support financial reporting and analysis based on customer requirements
Coordinate financial activities with cross‑functional stakeholders
Provide recommendations and courses of action (COAs) for financial decisions
Apply financial management principles, processes, and regulatory requirements
Assist with training stakeholders on updated financial procedures
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Understanding of financial management principles and budgeting processes
Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
Must have an active secret clearance
