Roller Coaster Maintenance Technician
Full‑time position responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and refurbishing wooden roller coaster structures. The role ensures all coasters and equipment comply with state, federal laws, and manufacturers' operating standards. Responsibilities include visual and auditory inspections of roller coasters, maintaining proper records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.

Technicians are eligible for a skill‑based pay program that allows them to increase their rate of pay by developing knowledge and skills at the parks through certifications and cross‑training in other departments.

Safety & Environmental Performance

Lead the safety effort by personal example

Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures to assist employees and ensure guest satisfaction

Use and maintain Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari’s equipment and property appropriately

Always follow instructions of posted safety signs and warnings to ensure personal well‑being

Immediately report all injuries to the direct supervisor, management on duty, or the full‑time safety team

Work Requirements

Work safely and comply with all safety regulations

Comply with all policies, rules, and regulations of Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari

Perform routine and preventive maintenance on wooden roller coaster track, structure, and auxiliary equipment

Climb wooden roller coaster structures daily to inspect, maintain, and repair

Repair wooden roller coaster track and structure when needed

Inspect, maintain, and repair auxiliary equipment associated with roller coaster operations

Become certified as a technician within the amusement park industry

Perform housekeeping tasks to keep the workplace clean

Document maintenance activities

Diagnose problems with control systems at wooden coasters to prevent or resolve downtime

Troubleshoot roller coaster control systems

Learn new tasks and skills at the park and attend company‑sponsored training off‑site, if needed

Complete trainings in a timely manner

All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED

Carpentry skills strongly preferred

Skilled in operating skid‑steer loader, telehandler, manlift, forklift, and hand power tools such as electric drills, saws, grinders, hoists, impact wrenches

Ability to work at heights up to and including 150 feet

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Ability to spend multiple days off‑site or on‑site to attend seminars, meetings, and training events

Ability to properly use a respirator and pass a full‑face respirator fit test if needed

Ability to wear PPE

Dependable attendance record

Valid driver’s license

Availability to work full‑time and on weekends

Frequent requirements: sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms

Ability to climb stairs and ladders, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, and reach high and low

Specific vision abilities: close, distance, depth perception, adjust focus, and ability to identify colors

Must occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds

Ability to work in sunny, hot, cold, windy, rainy, noisy environments, and confined spaces

Acceptable pre‑employment drug screen and background check

Physical Requirements

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms

Ability to climb stairs and ladders, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, and reach high and low

Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, adjust focus

Must have good hearing and visual acuity to observe unusual sounds or noises from rides or equipment and variations in ride or equipment operation, speed, or performance

Must occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds

Ability to work at heights 150 feet above ground

Ability to work in sunny, hot, cold, windy, rainy, noisy environments, and confined spaces
