Job Summary
This is a unique opportunity for a faculty member from a local university to join the Dodge Manufacturing team in Belton, SC. This internship will provide exposure to the development and maintenance of manufacturing processes, tools, equipment, gages, work instructions, routings and BOM’s for the standard duty gearing product lines. This role will provide hands-on support to operators and assemblers with the manufacturing process. This role will gain exposure to CAM software and CNC programming and will develop an understanding of what students need to learn in school to become successful manufacturing engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the development and planning of manufacturing processes.
Responsible for the development and installation of tools, equipment, gauges, and standard work.
Supports the evaluation, purchase, development and installation of new equipment.
Identify, develop, justify, and implement process improvement, cost reduction, quality improvement, and safety and ergonomic projects.
Apply statistical methods to evaluate and improve process capability and estimate future manufacturing requirements potential.
Fluent with the use of CNC milling, turning, and grinding applications.
Provides technical assistance and training for assigned plant operations.
Create and maintain accurate work instructions, routings and BOM’s.
Ability to design and model fixture components and assembly tooling using SolidWorks/AutoCAD.
Required Qualifications
ME degree required.
Willingness to learn and utilize lean manufacturing principles
Track record of taking ownership of work and displaying strong customer focus
Self-starter with the ability to establish, prioritize, and organize work
Strong project management skills
Strong communication skills
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
