Base Pay

Level 1 Estimated Base Pay: $21.15(minimum) - $27.40(midpoint) - $33.65(maximum) plus shift differential & overtime

Level 2 Estimated Base Pay: $24.04(minimum) - $31.25(midpoint) - $38.46(maximum) plus shift differential & overtime

Woodward is looking for a machinist with ample inspection experience to support our FAI Inspections at the Loves Park Campus on

1st shift (M-F 7:00am-3:30pm)

and overtime as needed. The position works under a high level of supervision, limited troubleshooting, decision-making and problem solving.

Mandatory Training
First 2 weeks: M-F 7am-3:30pm

Week 3 onwards: Normal shift hours

Key Responsibilities

Operate multiple CNC or Manual (lathe/milling/swiss/grinding-od/id) machines to produce precision metal parts according to specifications.

Support operations (e.g., manual material removal, sub-assembly) following established procedures.

Perform first‑piece inspections and may be required to train on these processes.

Follow work instructions to maintain production efficiency and accuracy; interpret engineering blueprints and basic GD&T.

Use various gauges to inspect finished products, ensuring compliance with quality standards and record data per SOP.

Apply 5S principles, identify opportunities to improve workstation organization and cleanliness, and ensure compliance with team standards.

Encourage adherence to safety protocols within the team.

Key Skills

Operate multiple CNC or Manual machining equipment (lathes, mills, swiss, OD/ID grinders); proficient in supporting operations.

Identify gaps-to-standard and resolve or escalatethe per standard processes; analyze problems, propose solutions, and implement corrective actions with minimal supervision.

Understand mechanical systems and components; use inspection gaging and hand/power tools.

Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors; demonstrate Woodward's core values.

Prioritize time to complete tasks within established schedules, maintaining efficiency.

Follow lean practices such as 5S and waste reduction; participate in continuous improvement.

Adhere to standardized work; participate in daily management system.

Use basic software (email, spreadsheets, data entry tools).

Ensure precision tasks for high quality; follow instructions precisely and check work for accuracy.

Collaborate cooperatively with team members to support overall objectives; accept feedback.

Successful Candidates Typically Have

1+ years of prior inspection experience.

Strong computer skills (completing paperwork, data entry & verifying information).

Skilled in reading and interpreting drawings with GD&T standards.

Experience with inspection equipment: calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gages, plug gages, thread gages, concentricity gages, shadowgraphs, etc.
