Responsibilities

Supervise and oversee repair, maintenance and/or installation of systems within the specific area of assignment.

Receive, assess, prioritize work assignments; assign, review, monitor, assess and/or participate in repair, maintenance and/or installation activities.

Coordinate scheduling and work activities with other trades, vendors, contractors, departments and/or others.

Review/assess/inspect work; identify parts, equipment, material and supply needs; maintain files, records, reports and logs.

Perform a variety of hands-on maintenance tasks (filters, pumps, valves, pipes, motors, etc.) and maintain treatment systems and related units as assigned.

Troubleshoot and perform routine, preventative or emergency repairs of mechanical, electrical, and control systems; assist in safety and compliance activities.

Lead worker duties as authorized: direct the work of others, train staff, prepare performance appraisals, and handle emergencies as needed.

Perform related duties to ensure continuity of operations, interact with officials, contractors, and the public, and provide accurate information in inquiries.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: A High School diploma or GED, or higher, and three (3) years of heating, air conditioning, building trades or operations and maintenance of a water or wastewater plant.

Licenses and Certificates: Some positions may require a Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent, or a Class "B" CDL. Some positions may require Refrigerant Transition and Recovery certification and/or EPA/state certifications within six (6) months of hire.

Knowledge and skills in proper heating, air conditioning, water, wastewater systems; safety standards; and use/handling of tools and equipment.

Vacation and Leave

Eligibility for vacation leave for regular employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week with six months of service; accrual rates depend on years of service.
