United Health Services, the largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare services in upstate New York's Southern Tier, is hiring a Staff Registered Nurse, Maternity Unit to join our team at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. The Maternity and NB Nursery Unit is passionate about helping mother and baby bond the first few days of life. This unit provides physical and mental support in some of the most exciting times!
Schedule: 8 hour shifts
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assisting mother and baby during first few hours and days of life
- Monitoring vitals and acting accordingly
- Administering medications and providing patient education
- Working with OB and NICU (when needed)
Qualifications:
- A valid NY RN license
- 1 year med surg experience preferred
- Lactation certification preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team

Compensation: $40.70‐$61.05 per hour, depending on experience.
Sign‐On Bonus: This unit is eligible for a sign‐on bonus up to $15,000.
Responsibilities:
Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost and impact.
Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to United Health Services policy.
Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services.
Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies.
Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements.
Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.

Will perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required:
A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
License/Certification
Minimum Required:
Current NYS RN License
Preferred:
Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.
