
Supervisory Public Safety Dispatcher.

Responsibilities
Makes recommendations for equipment maintenance, upgrades, supplies, and orders for forms and equipment.
Ensures emergency medical dispatch assistance is provided to callers with medical emergencies using the emergency medical dispatch systems of Fort Belvoir and the surrounding municipalities.
Maintains required dispatch certifications and passwords for dispatch personnel.
Orients new employees to the Directorate of Emergency Services and division policies.
Requirements
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.
Position requires obtaining and maintaining a Secret Security Clearance.
Incumbent may be required to wear a uniform.
Incumbent is required to work mission‑essential duties regardless of weather conditions or base closure and to report to the duty station at the scheduled time.
Incumbent must pass a pre‑employment, fingerprint‑based criminal history investigation for any location that accesses Criminal Justice Information Systems.
Incumbent must complete Department of Defense Telecommunicator I and II or equivalent based on the program standards at the assigned location.
Incumbent must obtain and maintain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Medical Dispatch per program standards.
Incumbent must obtain and maintain Department of Defense Hazardous Awareness training for IS‑100, IS‑200, IS‑700, and IS‑800 or equivalent.
Incumbent must complete State National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification based on assigned location.
Incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch education (CDE) requirements through in‑service training and passing predetermined course requirements.
Position is subject to shift work with an alternate, rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Position is subject to call back, on‑call, and mandatory overtime as mission requires.
Position is supervisory per the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide; a one‑year probation is required unless previously completed.
Qualifications & Experience
One year of specialized experience coordinating the dispatch of emergency response personnel/equipment (police, fire, medical) to incidents reported via 911 or other emergency lines.
Experience using specialized dispatching software and/or communication systems to manage emergency responses.
Experience identifying the nature of calls to prioritize emergencies and non‑emergencies.
Ability to Lead or Supervise, provide Customer Service (Clerical/Technical), make Decisions, manage and organize information, and demonstrate Technical Competence.
