Position Summary
The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses or other classes as needed to fulfill current students' educational goals.
Responsibilities
Instructor responsibility: temporary faculty members must adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Responsibilities include preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Appointment Terms
Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the “Order of Work” provisions in the CSU/CAFA collective bargaining agreement. New lecturer appointees are last in the order of assignment. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
Compensation
Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range for Class Code 2358 (Academic Year Lecturers). Current range for a Master’s degree is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually near the minimum of the range and are adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.
Semester Availability
The pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. The number of positions varies by semester. Appointments are temporary and typically made just prior to the start of the term; applicants may need to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; re‑application is required thereafter.
Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026
Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
Required Qualifications
Education : A Master’s degree in Marketing or a closely related field (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent).
Experience
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, demonstrated through prior teaching experience, evaluations, or other evidence.
Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
