Visiting Lecturer, Media Arts and Science
The Department of Human‑Centered Computing, Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering at IU Indianapolis invites applicants for a Visiting Lecturer appointment in the area of 3D Animation and Visual Effects. Exceptional instructors are sought to join our fast‑growing department.
Position Summary
The responsibilities of the position include teaching assigned courses in the Media Arts and Science program, developing courses for the traditional classroom setting, computer labs and online education; supporting program and specialization goals, updating the curriculum, recruiting and marketing the program, interviewing, evaluating and advising students; engaging in scholarly activity that enhances teaching and learning; serving on school, departmental and program committees; maintaining current knowledge in animation, VFX, real‑time and AI‑integrated professions through professional organization participation, collaboration, practice and research; and serving on professional committees.
This appointment will begin August 1, 2026, at the IU Indianapolis campus. It entails a standard teaching load of four courses per semester with a distribution of 80% teaching and 20% service responsibilities. The appointment is in‑person and requires full‑time on‑campus presence. Salary is competitive and based on experience and qualifications.
Basic Qualifications
A master’s degree, preferably in a related field such as 3D design, computer‑generated filmmaking, visual effects or real‑time game pipelines. At least two years of industry experience in animation and related industries, comprehensive knowledge and experience in using the latest technologies integrating 3D into film, games and XR pipelines, including generative and agentic pipeline exploration. Demonstrated ability to teach and learn new trends to keep students competitive and become lifelong innovators.
