The job of Nutrition Services Manager Elementary is to oversee food service activities at an assigned location, organizing food preparation activities, assisting cafeteria workers, checking quality, providing daily reports, and ensuring compliance with nutritional and health requirements.
Responsibilities
Clean utensils, equipment, and storage, food preparation and serving areas for sanitary conditions per standard.
Estimate food preparation amounts and adjust recipes to meet meal requirements and minimize waste.
Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature to ensure student and staff satisfaction.
Implement menu plans to meet mandated daily nutritional requirements.
Inspect deliveries to validate quantity and quality per health standards.
Inventory food, condiments, supplies, and equipment at intervals to assure availability.
Maintain equipment, storage, and service areas in a sanitary condition per health standards.
Maintain records for reference and compliance.
Manage assigned site operations: supervise personnel, create menus, address allergies, monitor meal accounts, evaluate menus, verify pricing, and plan emergencies to provide efficient services.
Monitor operations such as kitchen equipment, trays, utensils, and staff assignments to ensure a safe, clean, and sanitary environment.
Order food, equipment, and supplies to maintain inventory within nutritional and budget guidelines.
Orient new employees to site processes and sanitation practices.
Oversee preparation, cooking, serving, and transportation of food to meet meal quantities, nutritional, and health standards while ensuring appealing presentation.
Participate in unit meetings, trainings, and workshops to share and gather information.
Perform functions of other nutritional services positions when needed.
Prepare documentation such as meal program records, reconciliation reports, cash summaries, and time sheets.
Process receipts to complete and document transactions.
Reconcile transactions to maintain account balances in accordance with policy.
Answer inquiries from students, staff, and the public regarding food and policies.
Schedule work hours and assignments for cafeteria staff.
Stock food, condiments, and supplies to maintain adequate quantities.
Supervise food service workers to maximize efficiency and meet shift requirements.
Train and evaluate prospective new managers for the Managers Intern Program.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Training
Must renew Serv Safe certification every 3 years.
Certificates and Licenses
Food Handler's Permit, Serv Safe Certificate.
Requirements
Age 16+
High school diploma or equivalent.
Job‑related experience with increasing levels of responsibility desired.
