Responsibilities
Kforce's client in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Software Engineer to support enterprise-level API engineering initiatives. This role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining scalable .NET-based APIs within a modern microservices architecture. It is a hands‑on engineering role ideal for someone with strong backend development experience and exposure to cloud‑native and DevOps practices.
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using .NET and C#
Build scalable microservices‑based applications
Develop and support web applications and backend services
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an Agile environment
Implement and support CI/CD pipelines
Monitor application performance and troubleshoot issues
Ensure high availability and scalability of systems
Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required
5+ years of software engineering experience
Strong Experience With
.NET/C#
RESTful API development
Microservices architecture
SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
JavaScript frameworks (Node.js, React, Angular, or Vue)
Python
Git version control
Agile methodologies
Experience With
Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
CI/CD practices
Application performance monitoring and troubleshooting
Scalability and high availability design
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to AWS services (API Gateway, Lambda, EC2, S3, etc.)
Understanding of serverless architecture
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
DevOps awareness and CI/CD pipeline familiarity
Financial services or banking domain experience

Cloud experience is a plus but not required
Compensation
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
