
Data Center Engineer

Ensure the continuous operations and availability of our Fortune 100 client’s Data Centers. Provide basic to intermediate technical support to critical facility infrastructure systems in the area of electrical, mechanical and life safety systems. Support projects for new construction and facility expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Solve technical problems for all aspects of electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems within existing critical facilities.
Support project management, engineering, and design support for new construction and facility expansions. Own projects of small to medium scope and complexity.
Provide architectural framework for servers, hardware, peripherals, and connections.
Perform reliability testing, plan emergency or disaster recovery procedures.
Install, configure, troubleshoot and provide engineering solutions for server and non-desktop computer hardware, software, systems and other resources in data center or other centralized computer network setting.
Monitor, track, and record system performance and utilization metrics.
Develop effective presentations for internal department, large group of employees, clients, and/or management.
Implement corporate standards and guidelines for critical infrastructure systems.
Required Qualifications
Comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, monitoring/control systems, instrumentation, and life safety systems within critical facilities
Comprehensive knowledge of critical infrastructure these include but are not limited to uninterruptable power systems, electrical distribution equipment, automatic transfer switches, static transfer switches, emergency standby generation, generator controls, fuel delivery systems, DC plants, grounding, CRAC’s, CRAH’s, air handlers, chillers, pumps, and monitoring/control applications/systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio
Proficient in mark-up of Portable Document Format (PDF)
Understanding of mathematics as well as the principles of physics and chemistry as they relate to critical infrastructure operations
Understanding of all critical facility infrastructure systems with greater knowledge in either electrical, mechanical, or monitoring/controls/instrumentation disciplines
Ability to think strategically articulating and selling an effective vision for best in class performance of critical facilities
Associate’s Degree or higher in Engineering
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Electrical / Mechanical trade construction in Data Centers - 4
Electrical / Mechanical technician with work background in critical environments - 4
Campus Central Plant operations and maintenance - 4
Monitoring / Control System applications integration - 4
Direct experience mission critical facilities/environments or data centers - 4
Experience in working on energized equipment (hot work).ese include but are not limited to uninterruptable power systems, electrical distribution equipment, automatic transfer switches, static transfer switches, emergency standby generation, generator controls, fuel delivery systems, DC plants, grounding, CRAC’s, CRAH’s, air handlers, chillers, pumps, and monitoring/control applications/systems
Preferred Qualifications
NFPA 70E Trained
Location: Charlotte, NC
Fully Onsite (South Charlotte)
6-12 month W2 contract (with potential for extension or conversion)
