Overview
The Agency of Natural Resources’ Climate Action Office is recruiting for an Environmental Analyst V – Resilience Coordinator to support the Agency’s work on climate resilience and adaptation.
This position will assist in climate adaptation program development, provide technical assistance to partners, and coordinate municipal climate planning cohort programs, engaging with state agencies, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities & Scope
Support climate resilience and adaptation initiatives aligned with the Global Warming Solutions Act.
Provide technical assistance to state agencies, municipalities, regional planning commissions, nonprofits, and businesses.
Maintain and update CAO‑developed tools such as the Municipal Climate Toolkit and Municipal Vulnerability Indicators Tool.
Develop municipal climate planning cohort programs and actionable frameworks aligned with Vermont’s planning requirements.
Coordinate with state agencies, regional planning commissions, municipal officials, community partners, and counterparts in other states through regional and national working groups.
Assist in monitoring, assessment, and tracking of climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience activities.
Engage in field visits, including travel by private means, and support positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
Familiarity with climate adaptation concepts and climate change science.
Knowledge of municipal, regional, and state planning processes.
Experience with vulnerability assessment methodologies.
Strong project management and communication skills, including ability to translate complex technical information into plain language.
Proficiency with GIS software and spatial data analysis, particularly for mapping climate hazards or vulnerability.
Experience working with data tools and maintaining publicly facing resources.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a biological, life, or physical science, engineering, social science, data science, environmental or natural resources field AND two (2) or more years of experience in a natural resources field.
• OR Master's degree or higher in the same fields AND one (1) or more years of experience in a natural resources field.
• OR Five (5) years or more of experience in engineering, environmental, social science, data science, or natural resources field.
