Responsibilities

Direct the work of employees engaged in offloading bulk material into dump trucks and moving it to the customer's plant.

Train employees in the safe and efficient operation of excavators, loaders, forklifts, bobcats, and other equipment as necessary.

Perform and train employees to perform preventive maintenance on equipment.

Troubleshoot maintenance issues and take action as necessary.

Look for more efficient and safer ways to perform operations.

Take action to resolve minor issues and disputes.

Record and report ongoing or major problems to the operations manager for resolution.

Operate heavy equipment used in material handling and loading as needed.

Be available to work different shifts, weekends & holidays as necessary.

Work effectively in extreme weather conditions.

Make solid, cost‑effective decisions and recommendations.

Have a can‑do attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to safely and effectively accomplish tasks.

Perform other duties as required by terminal management.

Education

High school diploma or GED.

Competencies, Skills, and Abilities

Basic math skills.

Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

Ability to work from written and verbal instructions.

Ability to gather information for statistical process control and other reports as necessary.

Ability to develop and implement work schedules to fulfill customer requirements.

Take initiative and work with co‑workers to accomplish defined goals in a fast‑paced environment.

Work with a team, take direction from supervisor, adhere to required work schedules, focus on details, and follow work rules and take on other duties as assigned.

Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and demonstrate a can‑do attitude and high level of performance.

Positively interact with customers and respond to customer inquiries.

Physical Demands

Lift up to 50 lbs. as high as waist level.

Climb ladders and stairs and raise body weight as high as 4 feet.

No fear of water or heights.

Swimming ability is a plus.

Working Conditions

Available to work different shifts, weekends & holidays as necessary.

Consistently work more than 40 hours per week.

Perform other duties as assigned by the terminal manager.

Learn to operate all equipment within 3 months of assignment.

Be able to withstand extreme weather conditions; majority of the time will be working outside.

Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge

Some college is preferred.

Experience operating heavy equipment.

Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.

Experience with Microsoft Excel is a plus.

Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
