Responsibilities
About team: PICO, ByteDance's XR brand founded in 2012, focuses on building immersive XR experiences across gaming and non-gaming applications, including productivity, video, collaboration, and AI-driven tools. Role Overview: As a Business Development Manager, you will own a defined segment of the non-gaming ecosystem and drive partnerships from sourcing through launch. You will collaborate closely with other BD teammates across productivity, creativity, collaboration, and AI categories to ensure coordinated partner engagement and execution. This role will work closely with internal cross‑functional teams including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Store, and Legal to ensure partnerships are structured effectively and delivered on schedule. You will help translate partner requirements into actionable internal plans, align on technical integration paths, and support successful launches and ongoing optimization. You will own a defined portfolio of partnerships while working in close alignment with the broader non-gaming team and platform priorities. This role requires strong execution, sound deal judgment, and effective cross‑functional coordination to bring partners successfully onto the PICO platform.
Own a portfolio of non‑gaming partners (e.g., productivity, AI tools, collaboration platforms, creative software).
Source and evaluate new partnership opportunities aligned with platform priorities.
Lead commercial negotiations and structure deals within approved strategic frameworks.
Drive partner execution from initial discussion through integration, launch, and post‑launch scaling.
Coordinate closely with Product, OS, SDK, Marketing, Store, and Legal to ensure delivery against milestones.
Translate partner requirements into actionable internal feedback.
Maintain structured pipeline tracking and reporting.
Ensure contractual compliance and milestone accountability.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Over 5+ years of experience in Business Development, Strategic Partnerships, Product, Engineering, or related technology roles.
Experience working with established productivity, collaboration, creative software, SaaS, or platform companies.
Demonstrated experience negotiating and executing complex commercial technology partnerships.
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external Product and Engineering teams, understanding integration requirements and product constraints (engineering background not required).
Proven ability to drive partnerships from sourcing through launch. Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Store, and Legal.
Structured thinking with the ability to prioritize under ambiguity.
Strong communication skills, both executive‑facing and operational.
Solid understanding of XR/AR/VR platforms and hardware–software ecosystem dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in product management or technical roles prior to Business Development.
Experience partnering with large global software or enterprise productivity companies.
Startup experience, with the ability to operate effectively in fast‑moving and ambiguous environments.
Job Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $118,400 – $277,200 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
