Bentley School is a K-12 co‑educational, independent day school located on two campuses in Oakland (K‑8) and Lafayette (9‑12), California. Responsibilities
Supporting the grade‑level lead teacher(s) in all aspects of the school day
Creating and maintaining a positive and safe learning environment where students thrive academically
Collaborating regularly with the other grade‑level teachers and specialists
Participating in all aspects of Bentley’s character education curriculum
Designing innovative curricula that consider both academic and social‑emotional growth
Instructing individual students, small groups, or whole class to carry out curriculum
Preparing and organizing instructional materials
Acting as classroom teacher in Lead Teachers’ absence
Attending regular faculty and grade‑level meetings
Assisting with supervision of students during lunch, recess, traffic duty, special events, off‑campus field trips, etc.
Attending various school functions, including admissions events, Back to School Night, conferences, etc.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with an interest in a teaching career
Enrollment in a teaching credential or master’s degree program in Elementary Education, preferred
Experience in an interdisciplinary environment with an emphasis on group collaboration and use of technology
Experience teaching problem‑solving skills in addition to traditional core content
Excellent interpersonal, writing, and communication skills
Ability and willingness to work with students in large and small group settings using multiple teaching methods to reach a broad range of students
Desire to continually examine one’s practice with the goal of improving student learning

Pay Range
Bentley uses a competitive salary scale, which takes into account experience, education, and skill level. The salary for this position ranges from $53,000 to $56,000 per year (paid semi‑monthly, 12 months, non‑exempt).
