Strategic Finance Manager

Assembled, San Francisco, CA, United States

Great customer support requires human agents and AI in perfect balance, and Assembled is the only unified platform that orchestrates both at scale. Companies like Canva, Etsy, and Robinhood use Assembled to coordinate their entire support operation — in-house agents, BPOs, and AI — in a single operating system. With AI Agents that resolve cases end-to-end, AI Copilot for agent assistance, and AI-powered workforce management that optimizes both human and AI capacity, Assembled helps teams deliver faster, better service while making smarter decisions about how to staff and automate. Backed by $71M from NEA, Emergence Capital, and Stripe, we're building the platform that makes AI and human collaboration actually work.

The Role
Finance at Assembled isn’t a back-office function — it’s a 3-person team with outsized leverage on our path to profitable growth. You'll join a group that cut its teeth at pre-IPO Square and Salesforce.

Your day-to-day will involve building and maintaining AI-native workflows in Claude and end-to-end dashboards in Hex that automate the toil of a “classic” finance team and free us up for the work that matters. You’ll own the hands-on craft of our financial operating system — modeling our path to profitability, pricing our blend of seat-based and usage-based products, and capacity planning for our global sales team — work that informs strategic decisions at the executive and founder level.

This is a substantive role for someone who wants to do real finance work at an inflection point, learn directly from a seasoned finance leader, and grow into more scope as the business expands.

This is an onsite role based in our San Francisco office, five days a week (Monday–Friday).

Responsibilities

Build and maintain Assembled's operating model and unit economics framework

Support the annual, quarterly, and long-range planning cycles end-to-end

Partner cross-functionally with business leaders across GTM, Product, Engineering, and G&A on budgeting, forecasting, and investment evaluation

Track the financial and operational KPIs that matter; build the dashboards and reporting that drive accountability

Contribute to board-level financial materials and support future fundraising processes

Monitor cash flow, burn, ARR, and other key metrics; deliver timely reporting and insights

Partner with Accounting to streamline close processes and improve reporting cadence

Drive ad-hoc analyses — pricing, packaging, COGS, segmentation, GTM efficiency — that inform strategic decisions

About You

3–7 years of experience across Strategic Finance, FP&A, investment banking, or private equity

Direct operating experience inside a high-growth SaaS business strongly preferred

Track record of building financial models from scratch, not just maintaining them

Working understanding of SaaS drivers — ARR, NRR, gross margin, CAC payback — and how they scale

Exceptional financial modeling skills in Excel/Google Sheets; comfort with large datasets

Excellent communicator; can translate analysis into clean narratives for executive audiences

High ownership mentality; thrives in ambiguity and drives work to completion

Nice to have: SQL or BI fluency, experience with NetSuite/Salesforce/Ramp, prior investment banking background

Generous medical, dental, and vision benefits

Flexible time off

Monthly credits for professional development, general wellness, Assembled customers, and commuting

Paid parental leave

Catered lunches every day (M–F) and fully stocked SF office
