Senior Supervising Accountant/Auditor
San Bernardino County is recruiting for a senior supervising accountant/auditor position that supervises challenging professional accounting work or participates in financial, operational, and compliance audits. The role reviews and performs extensive and complex accounting work covering the complete fiscal activities of a department.
Responsibilities
Supervise challenging professional accounting work or participate in financial, operational, and compliance audits.
Review and perform extensive and complex accounting work covering department fiscal activities.
Recommend audit priorities and schedules.
Confere with management on sensitive problems.
Analyze and propose procedures to increase efficiency.
Benefits
Auditing Pay Differential of 2.0% above base rate of pay.
Certified Public Accountant stipend of $750 annually for employees who maintain a valid CPA license.
Conditions of Employment
Travel: A valid California Class C driver license is required. Mileage reimbursement and automobile liability insurance proof must be maintained.
Background: Candidates must pass a background investigation, medical examination including drug screening. Certain positions may require a more stringent background check.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County will not consider candidates requiring visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or economics; OR a bachelor’s degree in another field that includes at least 30 semester (45 quarter) units of accounting coursework.
Transcripts with qualifying coursework are required if the degree is in another field.
Degree or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by a recognized accrediting association of the United States Department of Education.
Foreign degrees must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency.
Experience
Three (3) years of full‑time equivalent professional‑level auditing and/or accounting experience.
One (1) year of full‑scope supervisory experience or two (2) years of lead experience.
Professional‑level experience is defined as occupations that require specialized knowledge typically acquired through principal work experience; clerical/bookkeeping experience is not considered qualifying.
