Overview
The Department of Biomedical Data Science (DBDS) is a growing academic research community, comprised of faculty, students, and staff, whose mission is to advance precision health and medicine by leveraging large, complex, multi-scale real‑world data through the development and implementation of novel analytical tools and methods.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration, we are seeking a Communications and Events Planning Manager to be a key player and primary partner to department leadership tasked with facilitating department growth and communications through the strategic development and execution of all pertinent internal and external programs and forums. Duties include management of the department website, weekly digest (forum to consolidate most dept communications and provide updates on relevant internal and external events, activities, announcements, etc.), social media, marketing materials (including original content development from faculty teaching, education, and research), newsletters, etc. This position will also play a key role in building our brand as we seek to better position the department within Stanford and the external community. This position may supervise the work of administrative support personnel.

Core Duties

Serve as the unit manager/lead contact for the DBDS Communications & Events Planning Unit

Participate in development of communication deliverables in an area of expertise for a program

Develop communications of moderate complexity for various content delivery channels

Produce materials according to defined requirements using software applications and mediums

Work with vendors to obtain information to evaluate quality, process, and costs to support vendor selection as it relates to the Unit

Maintain knowledge by attending webinars, conferences, networking etc. to remain at the forefront of current industry standards, trends and technology

Serve as event archivist/curator – compile data, illustrations, photos, and pictures for assignments

Attend training as needed to keep relevant in the scientific journalism field

Work in collaboration with Institutional Communicators on media relations content and other areas

Hybrid Work Schedule
This position is a hybrid work schedule (a combination of three days in the office and two days remote). We will not be considering fully remote applicants for this position.

Pay
The expected pay range for this position is $90,174 to $109,773 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs. Desired Qualifications

Education and/or experience in marketing and branding

Experience producing original content working with faculty in the academic setting, ideally at the intersection of AI and biomedicine

Experience producing newsletters and other promotional materials through department websites, social media and print

Education & Experience (Required)

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required)

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively with internal communications groups across campus

Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills

Capacity to synthesize materials and communicate information in a manner easily understood

Experience with managing projects to specifications and to meet expected deadlines

Ability to perform detailed work with high level of accuracy and attention to detail
