Position Summary
Assists with planning, directing and implementing the department's charge entry process through resolute and physician organization system applications. Ensures the timely and complete entry of all billable charges for the department.
Job Responsibilities
Monitors charge entry billing activities. Utilizes automated reports to monitor performance including service to posting reports, missing charge reports, Resolute charge review and other charge rules and the overall utilization of EMR systems.
Monitors and identifies issues with volume of charges entered daily; troubleshoots and resolves identified issues. Achieves the PO benchmark for service to posting delays.
Recommends process improvements to address delayed or error prone charge entry via the billing interface which may impact account receivables and net collections.
Responsible for managing the department charge work-queues to include service to posting benchmarks, denials rules, coding, other billing rules and the overall work-queues utilization.
Liaises with PO/Business Office (PO/BO) regarding charge rules, payer's policies, systems and PO/BO procedures.
Creates and runs EMR queries as needed and utilizes standard reports to monitor and analyze account receivables. Documents all findings and makes recommendations to the billing staff.
Maintains EMR dictionaries. Initiates on behalf of the department all fee schedule changes, requests for new provider codes, procedure codes, referral physician and other dictionaries as needed.
Obtains missing registration data and confirms insurance coverage when necessary
Assists in the third party credentialing process for new and existing physicians. Contacts insurers as necessary to troubleshoot and resolve credentialing issues.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
High School Diploma
Experience
Approximately 2+ years of experience in a multi-specialty academic medical practice including medical billing and scheduling software.
Knowledge of third party healthcare reimbursement regulations.
Knowledge of CPT & ICD-9/10 Coding;
Previous experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, ideally EPIC.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Demonstrated excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work within an organization emphasizing teamwork, respect, and excellence.
