The School of Dentistry shares the mission of the Oregon Health & Science University to provide educational programs, basic and clinical research, and high-quality patient care and community programs. The School of Dentistry prepares graduates in general dentistry and the dental specialties to deliver compassionate and ethical oro‑facial health care.
Responsibilities
Primary work duties include escorting patients to and from the waiting room to the clinical dental operatory; preparing and disinfecting operatories for dental procedures using basic infection control techniques; performing routine equipment maintenance; and stocking and tracking inventory. The position requires working in a HIPAA‑compliant environment, maintaining confidentiality and discretion, and demonstrating flexibility to work in multiple patient care areas. Exposure to blood and/or saliva is expected, and a surgical face mask must be worn as directed. The role is busy and fast‑paced, with multiple demands and interactions that may involve interruptions.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
One year of experience with high‑volume contact with the public; or 6 months of medical office experience with high‑volume contact with patients
Basic computer skills
Customer service skills
Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Receptiveness to feedback and coaching
Demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and successful performance at past and present employers
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to learn effectively through an online learning format
Additional Information
Work location: School of Dentistry clinics. Hours per week: 20 hours, varying from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday‑Friday only. Exposure to blood and/or saliva is required. A surgical face mask must be worn as directed. The work environment is busy and fast‑paced, with multiple demands and interactions, including intermittent interruptions.
