Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Neonatology Discipline: Nurse Practitioner Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Locum Tenens Permanent – Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) / Neonatal PA Location: Portland, Oregon Organization: Providence St. Joseph Health Facilities: Providence St. Vincent Medical Center & Providence Portland Medical Center Start Date: ASAP / Ongoing Openings: 2 Providers Position Overview Providence Women’s & Children’s Services is seeking Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNP) or Physician Assistants (with neonatal fellowship/residency) to join a well-established NICU team across two major teaching hospitals. This role involves managing high-risk neonates and infants , working collaboratively in a Level III NICU setting , and providing family-centered, high-acuity care . Practice Setting Inpatient – Level III NICU Coverage at: Providence St. Vincent Medical Center (higher acuity, smaller/sicker patients) Providence Portland Medical Center (higher volume, moderate acuity) Teaching hospital environment with: Maternal Fetal Medicine support OB Hospitalist coverage Schedule 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM 24-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM Mix of shifts depending on site (PPMC more 24-hr shifts) No call required Patient Volume St. Vincent: ~22 patients/day (higher acuity) Portland Medical Center: ~10 patients/day Annual delivery volume: St. Vincent: ~3,000 Portland: ~4,500 Team Structure 13 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners Neonatologists (contracted, collaborative model) Strong NICU RN and support staff APPs manage patients and procedures; physicians provide daily oversight Key Responsibilities Manage high-risk neonates and infants Attend high-volume deliveries Perform neonatal procedures Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests Provide patient/family education Collaborate with multidisciplinary NICU team Requirements NNP or PA with Neonatal Fellowship/Residency (12 months required) Willingness to obtain Oregon license Experience in Level III NICU / high-acuity neonatal care preferred Strong procedural and delivery room experience Certifications NRP – Required Additional standard certifications as applicable Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $158,683 – $196,705 Extra Shift Rate: $118.21/hr Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 – $15,000 Quality Bonus: Up to $12,000 Full Benefits Package Includes: Health, Dental, Vision Malpractice (claims-based) PTO: 264 hours (33 days) CME: $3,000 80 hours Relocation Assistance: Up to $15,000 401(k) retirement plan Paid membership fees Credentialing & Hiring Timeline Credentialing: ~60–90 days Interviews → Offer: ~ 3–5 business days Contract issued within 3–4 days of LOI High-acuity NICU experience across two major hospitals Flexible shift structure (12hr/24hr options) Strong, collaborative neonatal team Long-term career opportunity with robust benefits About TheraEX Staffing Services TheraEx Staffing Services is a leading name in healthcare staffing solutions.
