Job Description
Join our world-class academic healthcare system as an Advanced Pharmacy Technician-Investigational Drug Services (IDS) Pharmacy. You will be part of a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment where the team works together for a shared purpose. Advanced Pharmacy Technicians play an essential role in the medication use process, compounding parenteral medications in a newly constructed clean room, processing medication orders, and ensuring patients have their medications when requested.

Essential Job Functions

Perform accurate prescription order entry processes held for pharmacist review and authorization.

Prepare and compound sterile parenteral/enteral pharmaceuticals, controlled substances, and chemotherapeutic agents under pharmacist supervision.

Initiate and complete delivery forms.

Attend and participate in all patient care meetings and conferences.

Know and adhere to Policy and Procedures governing pharmacy operations, assisting in maintaining the pharmacy facility for excellent audit results.

Organize assigned workload to best facilitate accomplishment.

Prepare and monitor results for pharmaceutical quality assurance testing.

Assist with pharmacy inventory management, preparing purchase orders, and verifying receipt of pharmaceutical stock and supplies.

Maintain confidentiality of patients and their personal information at all times.

Assist the pharmacist as requested in all duties and functions in accordance with the standard practices of the profession and applicable laws.

Assist with education and training of pharmacy students, technician students, and new personnel.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of one-year experience in pharmacy preparations for parenteral/enteral, intravenous antibiotics, and chemotherapeutic agents.

Must be a certified pharmacy technician.

Knowledge of basic drug terminology, pharmaceutical evaluation, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical law.

Experience in pharmaceutical quality assurance with parenteral products.

Excellent aseptic technique demonstrated on an ongoing basis.

Ability to work in a team environment and cooperate with all departments within the home infusion center.

Illinois technician licensure.

Shift: Day (8.5‑hour shifts, Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am–6 pm)
