Position Summary

Looking to grow your career in athletic administration? Doane University Athletics is looking for a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communication to enhance its brand and celebrate the success of our student-athletes. This position provides valuable hands-on experience in intercollegiate athletics while allowing you to develop your skills and pursue your graduate degree.

The Graduate Assistant- Athletic Communication, will assist with game day preparations, track in-game statistics, and maintain historical records. You’ll create game recaps, game notes, student-athlete profiles, and game day programs, as well as manage social media across platforms, including graphics for pre-and post-game coverage, special awards, and countdowns. Additional responsibilities include producing video highlights, live broadcasts, photography, website maintenance, and assisting with live streaming home contests.

This position starts August 3, 2026

FLSA

Salary An annual $6,750 stipend is provided, reduced to $5,000 if you live on campus, which includes a single bedroom in Frees Hall and a commuter meal plan of five meals per week plus $200 Doane Dollars per semester.

Bachelor’s degree required within the preferred area of study of Digital Media, Film and Broadcasting, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Sports Management

Experience should demonstrate:

A basic understanding of sports

Proficient or basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects)

Proficient or basic knowledge in sports photography, videography, and editing

Strong writing and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Ability to work evenings and weekends to accommodate various sports schedules and may include travel to away games as needed.
