About the Role
Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Finance, Technology and Analytics Administration (FTAA) is seeking a Plant Communications Coordinator to join their team at Western State Hospital in Lakewood, Washington.

You’ll work closely with managers and supervisors and maintain a computerized centralized building and equipment work order system. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide your service to the community and our clients. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

Responsibilities

Administrative support for MOD facility/program, staff, and vendors.

Perform office operations and prepare background information in preparation for staff’s daily work; keep records and establish priorities; make travel arrangements; screen, prioritize, and distribute mail.

Coordinate and assist as liaison between supervisors, other DSHS staff members, program staff, vendors, and management, transmitting assignments and requesting status information.

Provide administrative support to establish office procedures, standards, priorities, and deadlines.

Perform background checks for new hires.

Assist Facility Manager with FARM (personnel management system) requests.

Coordinate staff work.

Develop and create reports.

Train staff in client and administrative support, and problem resolution.

Organize and maintain all compliance related information in one central location.

Proofread material, making corrections for sentence structure, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Establish office procedures, standards, priorities, and deadlines.

Receive all incoming hospital service requests.

Create work orders and assign them to associated shops; monitor to ensure timely completion.

Assist with procedures with any maintenance repair or emergency repair, and coordinate work order management process.

Log, track, and distribute work orders to MOD staff to complete the necessary repairs.

Operate FM radio communications system to dispatch maintenance personnel.

Qualifications
Those with a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and one year of experience in some aspect of shop‑related work that provides general familiarity with repair and maintenance activities.

Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems, and familiarity with Windows‑based computer programs.
