Purpose: The purpose of this role is to operate Wayne Township Landfill's trucks and equipment in a safe and proficient manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform a range of duties, including loading, hauling, tarping, delivering, cleaning equipment, and performing mechanical work as required.
Maintain a strong focus on customer service and safety at all times.
Ensure adherence to all DOT and DEP regulations.
Provide intermittent guidance to other personnel assigned to specific tasks.
Mentor new employees as needed.
Conduct daily safety and maintenance inspections.
Ensure that all truck‑related paperwork and documentation are up to date.
Collaborate productively with colleagues and contribute to other areas of landfill operations as necessary.
Fulfill work orders for maintenance and repair tasks.
Demonstrate the ability to develop and adapt to changing plans.
Attend all assigned training courses, workshops, and other learning opportunities.
Prioritize workplace safety at all times.
Foster effective communication between the company and employees.
Complete any other assigned duties as directed by the dispatcher, management, and/or board of directors.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL):
Possess at least one year of experience driving over‑the‑road trucks; ability to operate heavy equipment is a plus.
Exhibit familiarity with general construction activities that may be necessary for daily operations.
Maintain up‑to‑date proficiency in applications and proactively integrate new technologies as they emerge.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
May encounter intermittent exposure to electrical hazards, chemicals, fumes, moving parts, and equipment under extreme weather conditions of both heat and cold.
May encounter hazardous and/or toxic substances and must adhere to necessary safety measures to protect against eye, nose, and skin irritation.
Must demonstrate self‑initiative and motivation.
Must exhibit the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
Work schedule is subject to the requirements of the position and may regularly extend beyond the typical workweek.
Demonstrate proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
Exhibit proficiency in the English language, including speaking, reading, and writing.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with the public.
Adhere to on‑site safety protocols and occupational best practices to ensure the safety of all employees, customers, and visitors.
Require a medium to heavy physical exertion level.
