To practice, enforce, and maintain records pertaining to radiation safety. To perform radiography
on welded joints and interpret RT film in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and
specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•
To practice, enforce, and maintain records pertaining to Kansas Regulations, under license, and
Company requirements concerning radiation safety.
•
Radiograph joints of varying size and shape for acceptability to various codes, standards, and
specifications.
•
Interpret RT film for compliance to Code and/or specification requirements, including review of
film, RT report write- up, and presentation of film package to the Al and/or customer Inspectors,
when required.
•
Interact with Kansas Radiation Control Inspectors during audits of Company's Radioactive
Material License.
•
Oversee training of personnel endeavoring to become certified under license.
•
Perform VT and dimensional inspections in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and
specifications.
•
Report abnormal conditions of equipment to the Radiation Safety Officer.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Work in a safe and secure manner and comply with the safety rules and procedures.
•
Perform small repairs, cleaning, and preventative maintenance on the radiography equipment.
•
Operate jib cranes, forklifts, and other mobile equipment (except heavy cranes) for the moving
of material, components, and equipment from location to location within the plant. Occasionally
operate overhead cranes and towmotors in support of small moves to continue production within the
department.
•
Perform general laborer duties as required (i.e. grinding, loading and unloading of trucks and
railcars, bricking furnace).
•
Keep working area clean and perform housekeeping duties around the plant as required (i.e.
pickup tools, roll-up hoses and cables, sweep).## QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS
•
Requires KDHE Radiation Safety Card
•
Must be SNT-TC-1A Level II in RT and VT
•
Must pass Jaeger 1, Brightness Discrimination, and Color Contrast Differentiation tests.
•
Capable of lifting 50 lbs. up to waist.
•
Requires 18 months minimum of job-related work experience.WORKING ENVIRONMENT
•
Exposure to low levels of radiation.
•
Exposure to inside and outside weather conditions.
•
Close visual and mental attention required.
•
Exposure to normal shop noises of grinding, chipping, high pressure gas burners, and repair
operations.
•
Moderate physical exertion required when handling components.EOE/Veterans/Disabled
