
BIM Manager/Digital Design Lead

As the Water BIM Manager/Digital Design Lead, you will lead and manage the BIM efforts for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. This senior‑level role is responsible for overseeing discipline‑specific BIM execution, ensuring model integrity, coordinating cross‑discipline design efforts, and supporting digital delivery strategies in alignment with project goals. You will also lead workload planning and serve as a mentor to digital design staff and provide technical leadership across Central Texas offices (Austin, San Antonio, Round Rock).
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as the BIM lead for the water discipline, independently managing models and digital deliverables based on the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP) and project scope.
Develop, maintain and oversee high‑quality, discipline‑specific BIM models in alignment with defined Level of Development (LOD) and project requirements.
Manage the setup, coordination, health, and accuracy of discipline models—including content creation, systems integration, spatial constraints, and documentation.
Utilize expertise in design software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, Plant 3D, or similar to support model development and drawing production.
Oversee the integration and coordination of models with other disciplines through design reviews, clash detection, and 3D coordination meetings.
Lead or contribute to the development of Digital Delivery Plans, workflows, and BIM Execution Plans for various project types.
Support production of detailed drawings, layouts, renderings, animations, and technical documentation within defined project schedules and budgets.
Ensure adherence to company standards and Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, performing QC reviews and model audits regularly.
Facilitate BIM coordination meetings and act as the primary point of contact for concerns on water projects.
Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on BIM tools, workflows, standards, and best practices.
Collaborate with Project Managers and discipline leads to align BIM strategy with overall project delivery needs.
Lead resource planning and workload coordination across Central Texas.
Promote innovation and continuous improvement in digital project execution.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working on large‑scale municipal or utility infrastructure projects
Previous experience working on heavy civil projects requiring grading plans and/or corridor models
Required Qualifications
Technical degree or a combination of education and relevant experience
A minimum of 10 years related industry experience
Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure.
Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tools
Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
Advanced understanding of engineering or architectural concepts
Knowledge of industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and organizational traits are essential
Leadership and mentoring skillsets required
