Job Summary
Cinder Residuals Texas is seeking a skilled and dependable Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Journeyman to support operations at our Fairfield, TX facility. This role builds upon the foundation of apprenticeship and requires demonstrated proficiency in industrial electrical and instrumentation work. The Journeyman will work independently on assigned tasks, provide support to Technicians and Supervisors, and contribute to the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant systems.
Key Responsibilities
Perform installation, calibration, and repair of instrumentation and electrical equipment including sensors, transmitters, motors, and VFDs
Read, interpret, and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, and control logic
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues with limited supervision
Conduct preventive maintenance tasks and accurately document work performed
Assist with small projects or modifications to plant systems under direction of Supervisor
Provide guidance and informal mentorship to apprentices and helpers
Follow all safety standards, company policies, and applicable codes (NEC, NFPA 70E, etc.)
Support other Site Operations at the request of Supervisor or Plant Manager
Qualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or GED required; completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent training preferred
3+ years of industrial I&E experience in maintenance, installation, or repair
Working knowledge of instrumentation calibration, wiring practices, and electrical troubleshooting
Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, and automation systems preferred
Ability to use test equipment (multimeters, calibrators, loop testers)
Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to work independently when needed
Valid driver’s license required
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Work is performed in an industrial facility, including time in control areas and field conditions with exposure to noise, dust, heat, outdoor elements, and operational hazards
May involve standing or sitting for extended periods, bending, climbing, using hand tools, and working around heavy equipment or machinery
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights or in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks
Use of communication devices or computer systems may be required, depending on job function
PPE must be worn and all safety protocols followed
