What to expect:
Martin Marietta is seeking a Utility Person/QC Technician to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation in addition to efficiently sampling and performing routine laboratory testing of aggregate material.
This position is responsible for greasing and lubricating plant equipment, maintaining plant housekeeping, operating equipment, and performing routine maintenance on plant and equipment. Additional responsibilities include that all products are consistent with prescribed standards and specifications. This position may require travel from the quarry to other locations.

Hours: Monday – Friday 7AM – 4PM (subject to change)
A typical day for a Utility Person/QC Technician may include:
Performing preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including cutting and welding under the guidance of the plant manager or other designated personnel
Performing daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintains maintenance log
Using a hand shovel and operates a skid steer, front end loader, and other tools to clean around plant equipment and to maintain roadways and parking areas
Operating a water truck to limit airborne dust
Participating in plant operations including production, loading and shipping, and quality control
Maintaining good housekeeping in areas of responsibility and safe traffic flow throughout the site
Operating plant-specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
Operating an automated scale and related computer software program to generate customer tickets
Administering site specific training to visitors and ensures site guidelines are followed
Directing customers to the appropriate areas of the site
Communicating with other site personnel
Maintaining professionalism in all situations in the workplace and when working with customers
Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor
Using prescribed standards to determine chemical and/or physical characteristics for quality control purposes and to determine conformity to specifications
Setting up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instrumentations such as agitators, scales, ovens, and other lab equipment as required
Working around industrial equipment and machinery to obtain material samples from production facilities such as conveyors, stockpiles, rail cars and/or customer sites
Reporting and communicates test results internally and externally (DOT and other customers as required)
Cleaning, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment
Inspecting stockpiles for proper construction and haul units for cleanliness
Maintaining test data files and records test results in AggQC and/or standardized forms
Investigating and resolving customer technical problems under the guidance of designated personnel as needed
Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor
You may be a good fit if you:
Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
Have experience in the building materials industry (preferred)
