Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) is a non‑profit organization dedicated to providing legal assistance and advocacy to low‑income individuals and families.
Job Overview
JALA seeks a full‑time attorney to join its Intake Unit in our downtown Jacksonville office. The position offers a hybrid model with remote days and a rotation of in‑office coverage after a training period.
Responsibilities
Interview and counsel clients regarding housing, consumer, family law, estate planning, and employment law matters.
Litigate cases in federal and state courts, taking early representation in complex cases for at‑risk clients.
Collaborate with senior attorneys and paralegals on case management, research, and client advocacy.
Participate in community outreach and committee work to support legal aid services.
Qualifications
Bar licensed in Florida; 1–4 years of experience in housing, consumer, family law, estate planning, and/or employment law.
Strong initiative, self‑motivation, and ability to work independently within a hybrid environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Salaries commensurate with experience; minimum DOE $72,500 per year.
Sign‑on bonus.
