About The Role
The Innovation Attorney – Legal Technology is an integral part of Latham’s Technology & Information Services team. The role acts as product owner for assigned legal technology platforms, with end‑to‑end accountability across discovery, piloting, launch, adoption, and ongoing optimization. The role defines and owns product vision, roadmap, and success metrics aligned with firm strategy, attorney needs, and operational priorities. It is located in either New York, Boston, Los Angeles, or Washington, D.C. The position may be eligible for a flexible working schedule allowing a hybrid and in‑office presence.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Translate practice group and legal operations requirements into clear product requirements, user stories, and prioritization decisions.
Serve as the primary decision‑maker on scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs throughout the product lifecycle, balancing user needs, technical feasibility, vendor capabilities, and strategic value.
Define, track, and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs), adoption metrics, and value realization to guide iteration and investment decisions.
Lead horizon‑scanning efforts to identify and assess emerging legal and adjacent technologies while maintaining awareness of the legal technology vendor landscape.
Own and coordinate pilot programs and proof‑of‑concept initiatives, including defining success criteria, drafting requirements, evaluating solutions, and managing testing and feedback.
Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains.
Possess expertise in horizon scanning and market intelligence with a strong understanding of legal technology categories and adjacent emerging technologies.
Demonstrate strong product management capabilities, including user personas, user stories, scoping, requirements documentation, roadmap planning, and user testing.
Exhibit advanced strategic project management skills, including business case development, financial analysis, and return on investment (ROI) modelling.
Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in law, business, information systems, or a related field.
Hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.).
Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting legal technology and innovation.

USD $220,000.00 – USD $250,000.00 per year.
