
Senior Associate Attorney

Meneses Law is an Immigration Law Firm seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Associate Attorney to take on a leadership role within our dynamic firm. This position involves not only managing complex immigration cases but also serving as a role model and mentor for junior attorneys, upholding high standards of legal practice and client service while guiding the team in navigating immigration matters, including migration, citizenship, business immigration issues, and political asylum. The Senior Associate will represent clients in the US Immigration Court and contribute to the overall growth and development of the legal team.
The candidate must be an active member in good standing of the Bar.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Must be experienced in EOIR & all forms of relief before the court
Ability to litigate in immigration court issues such as 42A, 42B, asylum, and CAT
Knowledge of H, L, E2, E-3, TN & O Visas
Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients
Analytical ability, logical reasoning, and sound judgement when professionally handling clients’ cases
Identify legal issues and develop innovative approaches to resolve complex issues
Comprehensive understanding of immigrant visa petitions and consular processing
Thorough understanding of family‑based petitions, waivers, adjustment of complex status issues, asylum‑based petitions, and consular processing
Draft motions, waivers, applications, requests for evidence, and submit to appropriate federal offices such as USCIS
Lead by example, demonstrating excellence in immigration law and ethical practice
Manage a highly demanding, detail‑oriented immigration litigation process as a member of the legal team
Advise, research, and collect evidence or information; draft legal documents such as petitions & motions to defend in court
Advocate for clients establishing legal residency or facing deportation; prepare family‑based petitions, employment‑based cases, waivers, removal of defense matters, and consular processing issues
Type a variety of documents in draft and final form, such as correspondence, forms, and evidence; proofread materials for correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Assist in preparations by providing relevant research data
Develop strategy and prepare clients/witnesses for court and USCIS appointments
Maintain the strictest level of confidentiality with organizational information
Perform any other tasks or functions deemed necessary to the daily operations of the employer
Required Skills
Excellent knowledge of MS Office and MacOS
Proficiency in using computers, printers, copy machines, fax machines, and other office equipment
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgement
Excellent time management skills, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to work independently and take initiative in problem‑solving
Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and communicate findings effectively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Able to type 45 WPM or more
English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
Proper phone etiquette
Must be fluent in both English and Spanish
Key Competencies
Must be an active member in good standing of the Bar
5 + years of immigration law experience
3 – 5 years EOIR experience
Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
Attention to detail and process orientation
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Self‑motivated with excellent interpersonal skills
Relationship building and influencing skills
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree focused on political science, economics, or history
Juris Doctor (J.D.)
Pass the Bar Exam
Physical Demands
Regular walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods
Occasionally stooping, kneeling, or crouching
May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods
Manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
Ability to move and lift items up to 10 pounds
