Responsibilities
As a Social Worker at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, you will be a valued member of our dynamic
Inpatient Psychiatry and Emergency Department
team, providing compassionate, patient‑centered care in a collaborative healthcare environment.
Responsibilities Include
Conduct diagnostic assessments, determine clinical interventions, facilitate crisis intervention, and provide education for patients and their families.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external support systems.
Participate in the development and implementation of the treatment/transition plan.
Function as a team member within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
Function within the research, practice, and education shields at Mayo Clinic.
Serve as a resource to allied and administrative staff within the section of Social Work and the Department of Nursing.
Comply with applicable medical/legal responsibilities and organizational standards.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F‑1 STEM OPT extension program.
Qualifications
A
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW)
from an accredited program is required for this position.
Licensure / Certifications
Certification as a Social Worker is required.
Licensed as an Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW)
or licensed to practice independently at the clinical level ( LCSW
or
LICSW ) by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Additional Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of categories in mental illness, personality development, and psychiatric treatment.
Demonstrated skills in conducting individual, group, and family therapy, including psychosocial diagnostic skills.
Knowledge of adjustment to medical diagnosis and chronic disease.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, consultants, residents, hospital personnel, community agencies, and other resources.
Ability to practice clinically with intent and eligibility to progress toward Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure.
APSW candidates must complete required post‑graduate clinical hours and supervision leading to LCSW attainment as a condition of employment.
