Through a unique collaboration between Universal Health Services and Providence Health Services, Inland Northwest Behavioral Health became the first free‑standing mental health hospital in the city of Spokane, Washington.
The 100‑bed hospital is located near the Sacred Heart Medical Campus and offers a variety of therapeutic spaces, including a dining room, a gym, activity rooms, and outdoor courtyards.

Summary Statement & Purpose
The Social Worker supports patients in meeting their psychosocial needs and achieving emotional health by facilitating treatment planning, conducting assessments, providing psycho‑education, offering short‑term therapy, leading group sessions, and coordinating discharge planning with community resources. Using evidence‑based practices, they help clients reach optimal mental and emotional well‑being.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health field.
Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) or Social Worker Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC).
Current BLS, First Aid, Handle with Care, and Verbal De‑Escalation certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Advanced Social Worker (LASW), or Licensed Psychologist.
Preferred: three (3) years of post‑Master’s experience in a psychiatric health care setting.
Essential Job Functions
Provide comprehensive psychosocial assessment, intervention, and support services to patients and their families. Conduct individual sessions, facilitate therapeutic and educational groups, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans. Serve as a resource to families regarding emotional, social, and financial aspects of care while ensuring patient and family engagement in treatment planning. Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation, coordinate care across departments, verify required releases of information, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
