Job Description
Frostburg State University, Department of Kinesiology and Recreation, invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track, open‑rank Professor of Athletic Training who will serve as the Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCE) for the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program. This 10‑month faculty position includes teaching, service, and professional development responsibilities, with salary commensurate with experience and qualifications and the University System of Maryland benefits package.

The Department offers graduate and undergraduate degree programs—including the MSAT, Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science, and Bachelor/Master in Recreation & Parks Management—and is housed in state‑of‑the‑art classrooms and laboratories in the new Education and Health Sciences Center.

Responsibilities

Teach didactic and clinical courses in the MSAT program and optionally in the undergraduate Exercise and Sport Science program.

Advise MSAT students and serve as the MSAT Coordinator of Clinical Education.

Coordinate and develop curriculum in areas of specialty and expertise.

Commit to scholarly activities, professional development, and mentorship of student research.

Provide service activities to the department, college, university, community, and/or profession.

Manage the organization and administration of clinical education aspects of the MSAT program, assist the Program Director with annual program review and evaluation, curriculum planning, fiscal and budgetary input, and ensure equitable distribution of educational opportunities at all clinical and classroom sites.

Perform other academic duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned doctorate degree (or ABD) in sports medicine or a related field from a regionally accredited university.

Contemporary expertise in the field of athletic training.

Prior clinical practice as an athletic trainer.

Prior teaching responsibilities within an athletic training education program.

Experience in mentoring student research.

Evidence of a successful applied research and scholarship agenda.

Certification and good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer.

Eligibility for licensure or current licensure in the state of Maryland as an athletic trainer.

All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Additional Encouraged Qualifications

BOC certification for five years or longer.

Greater than three years of college‑level teaching.

Prior experience with the clinical supervision of athletic training students.

Prior experience with the CAATE accreditation process.

Record of interprofessional collaboration in curriculum development and/or research.

History of extramural funding or potential for funding.

Demonstrated professional service at state, regional, national, and/or international levels.
