
Office Assistant II (12-2025)

The recruitment is exempt from the hiring freeze (Administrative Order 358) and is open to Alaska residents only. Applicants must meet the Alaska residency requirement to be considered for employment at this time.
What You Will Be Doing
Perform, monitor, and review administrative tasks to ensure compliance with rules and regulations and align with established procedures.
Maintain statewide fire service training records on behalf of the division.
Monitor and analyze bureau finances and expenditure reconciliations.
Coordinate statewide fire service contractor assignments approved by the Bureau Administrator.
Provide administrative support during bureau meetings and training courses in communication, logistics, and record‑keeping.

The location is 3000 C. Street Suite 200, Anchorage, AK 99503.
What We Are Looking For
Alaska resident status.
High school diploma or the equivalent (e.g., GED, accredited college admission, or 12 years of experience with clerical tasks).
One year of clerical experience (greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs).
Moderate computer and keyboarding skills; ability to learn software programs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain accurate and systematic records.
Ability to analyze data, draw logical conclusions, and make independent judgments.
Effective time management and punctuality.
Basic typing skill; some positions may require motor vehicle operation and a regular driver’s license.
Background check: submit to a fingerprint–based criminal history background check. Applicants with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
State of Alaska IRIS training, IMPACT database training, and Travel training required within 3 months of employment.
Special Note
High school diploma equivalent may include a GED; completion of a basic adult education course; admission to an accredited college or university; or 12 years of experience, including clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
