SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to help support Employment and Labor law matters. The ideal candidate must have strong legal research skills—and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal direction. Experience navigating federal and state courts is required. The ideal candidate will also have experience in employment litigation matters, including wage and hour cases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions and legal codes.
Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, or appeals, etc. for use by attorney.
Create preliminary drafts of discovery requests and discovery responses.
Analyze client documents and prepare timelines and summaries.
Review deposition transcripts and prepare summaries thereof.
Coordinate requests between multiple parties involved in litigation by way of consistent communication with client.
Categorize and interpret data; review and analyze reports, responses and records produced by opposing counsel.
Draft, review, analyze & organize documents in litigation and transactional matters. It is important that the candidate be adept in working with electronic document management systems.
Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments.
Monitors on‑going matter activity and pending deadlines in litigation and transactional matters.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience as a litigation paralegal; Employment and Labor law expertise strongly preferred.
In‑depth understanding of all pertinent legislation and precedent.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
Must have experience working with federal and state courts.
Strong knowledge of California’s employment and labor laws.
Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Proficient in the use of electronic document management systems and preliminary review of documents for responsiveness to discovery requests and privilege.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Certification or associate’s degree in paralegal studies (bachelor’s degree is preferred).
Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as a Litigation Paralegal.
