Mechanical Design Engineer
Near Munich, Germany - Onsite working required
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a high-tech engineering company for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their precision engineering team in Weilheim, close to Munich. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge mechatronic and opto-mechatronic systems used in advanced semiconductor and high-precision mass manufacturing environments.
Your Responsibilities:
Develop precision mechatronic and opto-mechatronic subsystems for integration into high-end manufacturing equipment (1 µm class)
Create design concepts, evaluate performance, and lead the development of prototypes and mock-ups
Define verification procedures and support the setup of laboratory test environments
Own end-to-end mechanical design activities including 3D CAD, BOM creation, 2D manufacturing drawings, and supplier coordination
Select and manage critical suppliers and oversee procurement activities
Assemble and commission prototypes in the lab and coordinate testing and validation within the engineering team
Document and communicate test results to internal stakeholders, customers, and international partners
Your Profile:
Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, or a related field
3+ years’ industry experience in precision engineering, ideally within semiconductor back-end or high-tech manufacturing equipment
Strong understanding of semiconductor equipment and manufacturing ecosystems
Excellent technical knowledge of:
3D CAD design
Materials and precision mechanics
Motion systems and controls
Electrical actuators, pneumatics, bearings, sensors
Precision machining techniques
Experience with supplier development and technical procurement
Solid knowledge of multi-physics simulation and design optimisation methods
Experience in precision metrology (100 nm class) and relevant standards
Comfortable working in multicultural, interdisciplinary teams within a globally connected engineering environment
