
Scheduling Coordinator II - FPA Access Center

Description In the Scheduling Coordinator II role within the FPA Access Center, you will exemplify patient experience by interacting with patients and visitors over the telephone and other communication channels, providing superior customer service. The FPA Access Center is the centralized contact/call center for the Mount Sinai Health System, located on the West Side of Manhattan. Although an administrative office, the Access Center supports the various doctors’ offices throughout the health system. The Scheduling Coordinator II is a senior-level individual responsible for scheduling appointments, consults, and follow‑up appointments for patients. You will take a lead role in the group, mentoring and training less experienced staff and assisting in the oversight of front desk and office activity in the absence of the supervisor.
Responsibilities
Schedule patient FPA appointments and update the practice management system.
Collect patient demographics and insurance information and enter it into the practice management system.
Verify patient insurance coverage prior to appointment and advise patients of any referrals or authorizations needed.
Schedule patients’ appointments for tests or consults as needed.
Initiate reminder calls for next‑day appointments.
Train and mentor less experienced Scheduling Coordinators and administrative staff, and discuss issues of concern with the supervisor.
Act as liaison between Scheduling Coordinator staff and Administrative Assistants to address patient concerns.
Participate in customer service initiatives, patient satisfaction surveys, ACD and appointment reporting.
Participate and offer input into the Performance Appraisal process with the supervisor.
Perform other related duties.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
At least three years of secretarial/clerical experience, preferably with some directly related experience in a medical practice environment.

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $19.0196 – $28.5293 per hour. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need. The salary range does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
