Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is now accepting applications for an
Intern
position in the IT Department. This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands‑on experience in enterprise IT operations while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment. This is a paid internship with an hourly salary of $16.00 per hour.
This Intern position is available to full‑time students only. The Intern can work a flexible schedule with a maximum of 24 hours per week during the school year, and 40 hours per week during the school breaks.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist with research and exploration of new and emerging technologies, including AI‑assisted development and automation tools
Support innovative design and programming initiatives across web‑based applications
Contribute to development and testing of integrations between systems using:
APIs (RESTful and other modern frameworks)
Middleware and other integration approaches
Participate in prototyping and proof‑of‑concept development for new tools and solutions
Assist with data quality efforts, including:
Data cleanup and normalization
Identifying inconsistencies and improving data integrity
Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business units to understand needs and propose technical solutions
Document processes, findings, and technical implementations
Opportunities

Current enrollment in an accredited college or university program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Exposure to REST APIs or web services (desired)
Basic knowledge of databases (SQL or NoSQL) (desired)
Interest in AI, automation, or data engineering concepts (desired)
Experience with version control (e.g., Git) (desired)
Curiosity and willingness to experiment with new tools and technologies (desired)
