ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a skilled and certified Electrician to join our heavy equipment manufacturing team. This role will focus on the electrical installation and testing of advanced control systems, including controllers, sensors, displays, wire cables, and harnesses. The ideal candidate will be adept at both precision installation and troubleshooting to ensure reliable operation of control systems in complex heavy equipment assemblies.

Electrical Installation

Install electrical control systems, including programmable controllers, operator displays, sensors, actuators, and harnesses, according to engineering specifications and schematics.

Route and terminate wiring harnesses and cable assemblies with attention to proper shielding, sealing, and mechanical protection in a heavy equipment environment.

Ensure correct electrical connections, grounding, and system integration with hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic subsystems.

Apply appropriate torque, sealing, and fastener practices to ensure system reliability in demanding operating environments.

Programming of programmable controllers and other field devices.

Testing and Troubleshooting

Conduct functional and continuity testing on installed electrical systems to confirm compliance with design standards.

Diagnose and resolve issues encountered during installation or initial testing, including wiring errors, communication faults, signal loss, or grounding problems.

Use diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, CAN bus analyzers, or proprietary controller software) to identify and correct faults.

Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to validate system performance and address nonconformities.

Documentation and Compliance

Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness prints, and control system layouts.

Accurately record test results, corrective actions, and installation notes in production documentation systems.

Follow all OSHA, NEC, and company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and safe handling of energized circuits.

Ensure compliance with quality standards and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
Education/Certification

Licensed or certified Electrician (Journeyman or Master Electrician preferred).

Additional training in industrial electronics, automation, or mechatronics is a plus.

Experience

3+ years of experience in electrical installation or troubleshooting in industrial, automotive, aerospace, or heavy equipment manufacturing environments.

Hands‑on experience with wire harness routing, electrical panels, and control systems integration.

Technical Skills

Proficiency with electrical diagnostic tools (multimeters, continuity testers, oscilloscopes).

Familiarity with PLCs, CAN bus communication, Ethernet communications, various field communications protocols and electronic display systems.

Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

Soft Skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Manufacturing Environment
Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
