Overview
Facilities Technician 2 – On-Site Role. 6-Month Contract-to-Hire. Compensation: $20/hour – open to negotiation.
Our client is seeking a reliable, hardworking Facilities Technician 2 to support the daily operations of a medical device research facility. In this hands-on role, you will help keep the building running smoothly by performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, supporting the skilled trades team, and ensuring a safe, clean environment. This position offers real room to grow into more advanced systems work, including exposure to boilers, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and other critical building infrastructure. Flexibility for on-call shifts and a strong work ethic are essential.
What You'll Do
Perform general building maintenance, including painting, patching, cleaning, and minor repairs
Assist with plumbing tasks such as unclogging drains, replacing fixtures, and addressing leaks
Support HVAC technicians with filter changes, equipment inspections, and routine upkeep
Respond to internal work orders and resolve facility issues in a timely, professional manner
Help maintain clean, organized mechanical and utility spaces
Follow all safety protocols on the job, including proper use of tools and equipment
Be available for on-call shifts and flexible scheduling as facility needs arise, including evenings and weekends
Work with and gain exposure to boilers, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and other critical building infrastructure
Interact professionally with researchers and staff, providing customer-focused support
What You Bring
Special Engineer Boilers License (required)
Experience in building maintenance, facilities, construction trades, or a related hands-on field
Comfortable working with basic hand and power tools
Dependable, punctual, and willing to take on various tasks
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or on-call as needed
Strong work ethic and positive attitude—this team moves fast and takes pride in their work
Experience in trades such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or carpentry (preferred)
Military background in a mechanical or facilities role (preferred)
Customer service mindset for daily interactions with researchers and staff (preferred)
