The
Assistant Construction Project Manager
will support the Construction Project Manager, Project Manager, Site Manager, and/or EPC Project or Program Manager in the day-to-day execution of construction and EPC projects. This role assists with safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, procurement, documentation, and field activities across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Projects span multiple industries including
aviation, commercial buildings, electrical transmission & distribution, facilities, manufacturing, oil & gas, power generation, process, and water . The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities: Project & Construction Management Support
Assist with daily management of
safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, procurement, subcontractors, suppliers, and documentation .
Support EPC project execution, construction management, and program management initiatives.
Collaborate with project leadership on
site mobilization and demobilization planning and execution .
Secure and track applicable
project permits .
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Adhere to company safety programs, policies, and training requirements.
Support management of
Safety & Health performance
for project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Assist with
project safety, quality, progress, and financial audits .
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and project requirements.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
Collaborate with the Project Management team to build and maintain strong
client relationships .
Interface with clients on proposal-related and project-related matters.
Prepare and distribute
meeting agendas, minutes, and project communications .
Contracts, Procurement & Risk Management
Support development and execution of:
Project Execution Plans
Quality Assurance Plans
Safety & Health Plans
Subcontracting and Procurement Plans
Project Staffing Plans and Organization Charts
Assist with
risk reviews , consulting with Legal as needed.
Support negotiation and execution of
prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders .
Prepare RFPs, scopes of work, bid packages, and assist with subcontractor prequalification and selection.
Support downstream contract administration including
RFIs, submittals, change management, claims mitigation, and design changes .
Cost, Schedule & Reporting
Support
cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structures, earned value tracking, and forecasting .
Assist with labor and equipment cost analysis, composite crew rates, and productivity metrics.
Prepare project status reports covering
schedule, cost, risk, and cash flow
for internal and external stakeholders.
Support invoicing processes for prime contracts, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Field & Craft Labor Support
Collaborate with Superintendents and Site Managers to verify subcontractor compliance with
contract, safety, quality, and schedule requirements .
Assist with onboarding of craft labor and field supervision.
Support development of project labor agreements when required.
Monitor labor burdens, craft classifications, benefits, and labor law compliance.
Maintain accurate craft progression and competency records.
Assist with craft training and workforce planning.
Manage construction equipment inventory and utilization.
Project Closeout
Support
project turnover, documentation, warranties, record retention, and closeout activities .
Maintain and implement project documentation and filing systems.
Additional Duties
Perform other duties as assigned.
Comply with all company policies and standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree
in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
preferred .
3+ years of relevant construction experience required .
Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
Experience in
Electric Utilities Transmission, Distribution, or Substation construction
is preferred.
Multi-industry construction experience is a plus including aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transportation, transmission & distribution, or water.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of
construction project management, cost control, and scheduling .
Working knowledge of
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) .
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).
Experience with
document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software
preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage large workloads and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
High attention to detail and strong follow-through.
Certifications (Preferred, Not Required)
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Professional Engineer (PE)
Travel & Licensing
Ability to travel to project sites within a
1–3 hour radius
of Newton, MA.
Valid driver's license required.
Must meet company vehicle driving requirements per the Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
