Fleet Mechanic
Reports to: Pro Crane Manager
Hours per week: 40 minimum
Non-Exempt, Hourly
Responsibilities

Service fleet and a wide range of equipment including gas welders, golf carts, small utility tractor, forklifts, man-lifts, telehandlers, service trucks, semi‑tractor/trailers and cranes.
Perform inspections, routing maintenance, repairs and diagnose problems.
Have experience working on semi trucks and heavy equipment.
Document vehicle and equipment maintenance records and evaluate information to remain in compliance with laws, regulations or standards, in written or electronic form.
Communicate information with Pro Crane manager, project managers, foreman and peers by phone, written or e‑mail.
Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, tune‑ups and lubricating equipment and machinery.
Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined (belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings and other potentially troublesome areas).
Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or ensure proper working order.
Inspect, repair and/or service brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, booms, rigging, air conditioning, heating, engine‑cooling, electrical, hydraulic and other important parts to ensure proper working order and adjust/align/tighten/reassemble or repair as necessary; outsource repairs as appropriate.
Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts and specified safety devices.
Use and care of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges and precision instruments; use power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, jacks and hoists.
Attach test instruments to equipment and read dials/gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Good knowledge of machines and tools including basic designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
Ability to determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing machines or systems using needed tools and equipment.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions in English, promote safe work practices, and prepare and submit consistent, accurate reports and time‑keeping.
Competence in maintaining vehicle and equipment maintenance records and good computer skills.
Mindful of company and safety policies/procedures to keep people, equipment, vehicles and shop area organized, clean, safe and free from hazards.
Ability to see and hear hand and voice signals/machine noise while performing maintenance or diagnosing problems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Context

Regularly spend time using hands to handle and control tools, parts, controls and equipment.
Willingness and ability to perform work following verbal and written instructions.
Wear common protective and safety equipment such as steel‑toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves and/or hard hats as required.
Occasional work near moving mechanical parts and outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.
Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi‑limb coordination.
Occasionally exposed to contaminants such as gasoline, diesel, solvents, paint, gases, dust and odors.
Special Requirements

Valid driver’s license required.
Pass PPPO, General Physical and Drug Screen.
Must be 18 years old or older.
