HVAC Lab Technician - Compression

Seeking a Lab Technician to join our Compression Engineering team at our R&D center located in Syracuse, New York.
Responsibilities
Setup, maintenance, and operation of compressor performance and reliability test stands ranging in capacity from 1 to 1500 Tons.
Operate hands‑on mechanical and electrical systems, applying best practices for piping systems and power/control system wiring per NEC and UL codes.
Use test and measurement equipment and laboratory data acquisition systems.
Perform brazing of large piping using oxy‑acetylene torches, and use overhead cranes and rigging equipment for test setups.
Operate Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs) including forklifts, work savers, and obtain required medical certification.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Air Conditioning Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology with 1‑4+ years of related experience.
Experience with Air Conditioning and Refrigeration systems.
Working knowledge of commercial‑industrial wiring, hydronic systems, AC motors, and controls.
Experience with single‑phase and three‑phase electrical power systems, VFDs, PLCs, PID controls, transducers, flow meters, lab instrumentation, and electrical test equipment including Yokogawa Power Analyzers.
Experience with National Instruments‑LabVIEW data acquisition systems is a plus.
Universal EPA Section 608 certification is required.
Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
Self‑motivated, capable of working with an experienced technical team, and able to thrive in a fast‑paced changing environment.
