
Construction Manager - Substations

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of substation construction projects across the United States. This role is critical to the successful execution of high‑voltage electrical infrastructure projects supporting utilities, renewable integration, and grid modernization.
The Construction Manager will oversee all site‑based activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with technical, regulatory, and quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex, high‑impact power projects in a growing market sector.
Key Responsibilities
Manage on‑site construction activities for new‑build and expansion substation projects (distribution, transmission, and high‑voltage)
Coordinate civil, structural, electrical, and commissioning works across multiple contractors and trades
Oversee project schedules, field budgets, quality control, and daily construction operations
Enforce strict compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and utility safety standards
Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and resolve site issues proactively
Ensure adherence to construction drawings, technical specifications, and approved methods
Support testing, energization, and close‑out activities in coordination with utility stakeholders
Maintain accurate progress reporting and communicate risks, delays, or changes to project leadership
Required Qualifications
7+ years of construction management or supervisory experience within substation or power infrastructure projects
Strong understanding of high‑voltage systems, substation construction sequencing, and electrical safety practices
Proven experience working with utilities, EPC contractors, or heavy civil/electrical contractors
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and complex site logistics
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Familiarity with US electrical codes, standards, and utility requirements
Willingness to travel or relocate to project sites as required
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
Experience with transmission & distribution (T&D) or renewable interconnection projects
OSHA 30 certification
Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project)
Working knowledge of commissioning and energization processes
