
Tools Design Engineer

LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a growing organization, and they are seeking a motivated
Tool Design Engineer / Tooling Engineer
to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex tooling projects in a high-volume production setting while collaborating closely with tooling, engineering, and production teams. This position is ideal for a tooling professional with strong CAD skills, practical manufacturing experience, and the ability to move seamlessly between engineering design and shop floor support.
Responsibilities
Design and develop tooling solutions in support of ongoing production and new programs, with a strong emphasis on progressive stamping and/or molding environments.
Create, modify, and maintain detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Partner closely with the tool room and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot tooling issues, support builds, and improve tool performance and longevity.
Support prototype builds, tool tryouts, and production launches, making design adjustments based on real-world performance.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and production requirements to develop effective, manufacturable tooling designs.
Provide on-the-floor engineering support as needed, ensuring smooth communication between engineering and manufacturing.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on tool reliability, efficiency, quality, and cost optimization.
Maintain engineering documentation and revisions in accordance with internal standards and quality systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar) is highly preferred.
2+ years of hands-on tooling experience within a manufacturing environment.
Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Background in manufacturing operations, preferably within progressive stamping, automotive manufacturing, or injection molding or related processes.
Comfortable working both in an engineering office setting and directly on the manufacturing floor.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
Compensation Range:
$70,000 - $85,000
