About our EMS Network:

American Ambulance Service, Inc, is a subsidiary of the Hartford HealthCare EMS Network, a comprehensive, multidisciplinary EMS system which includes licensed EMS agencies, hospital based paramedic response resources, air-medical response resources, education and research, and hospital-based coordinators and medical directors. Our headquarters is located in Norwich, CT and we have additional offices in Griswold, Ledyard, and at Foxwoods Resort Casino. American Ambulance provides a full range of emergent and non-emergent medical transportation services by highly trained professionals to ensure safe, quick, and compassionate patient care.

Your Impact:

The Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) is responsible for effective communications, call entry, and dispatching for all 911 emergency and non-emergency medical transportation requests. Operating within our 911 Emergency Communications Call Center, this unique telecommunicator position will not only act as a 911 operator, but also as a liaison between healthcare facilities and our medical transportation team to effectively communicate available resources and expected arrival times, schedule non-emergency medical transportations, and ensure timelines are being met or new arrival expectations are set.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must have basic computer knowledge and skills.
  • Current Priority Dispatch EMD Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
