Senior Systems Engineer

Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to design, implement, and enhance technical solutions supporting mission‑critical operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional expertise in system engineering methodologies, data science toolkits, and development processes. This role requires a hands‑on, collaborative approach to partner with stakeholders, analyze complex systems, and develop innovative solutions.

Design and implement scalable technical systems and processes to meet mission‑specific objectives.

Leverage expertise in Apache, Hadoop, SAS, and Tableau to preprocess and analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights.

Collaborate with Project Managers and cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment of schedules and data processing workflows.

Develop data pipelines and algorithms to automate system integrations and visualizations.

Utilize programming languages like Python, R, C++, and SQL to develop functional systems and tools for data analysis and integration.

Use advanced visualization platforms such as Tableau, PowerBI, Grafana, or Kibana to provide real‑time insights to mission owners.

Perform system engineering life cycle processes, including requirements analysis, documentation, algorithm development, and process automation.

Qualifications
Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree in an area relevant to the position with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in an area relevant to the position with 6+ years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Active TS/SCI or SCI eligibility and active polygraph or ability to obtain a polygraph.

Advanced knowledge of data analysis, visualization tools, and statistical systems.

Proficiency in programming (Python, R, C++, SQL) and data science platforms.

Familiarity with IT/cloud computing and system workflows.

Ability to identify risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies while streamlining engineering lifecycles.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

Experience with DoD or Intelligence Community technical systems and standards.

Hands‑on understanding of development methodologies, including Agile, SAFe, or similar.

Knowledge of Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes with organizations like the NRO.

Target Salary Range
$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
